Snowslide Gulch

Acrylic on Canvas 20″w x 16″h

This is a prominent view on the walk up behind downtown Juneau on the Perserverance Trail.  This was in early summer as there is still snow up on Mt. Roberts.

One of my intentions is to show the dimensionality of the mountains, how the ridges come out from the peak.  The side on the left is very steep, and the right side slopes into more level areas towards Gold Creek.  I was in the well-field that furnishes most Juneau’s drinking water.  It percolates down through a big natural deposit of gravel and gives us terrific drinking water!
