Pinus Contorta, Shore Pine

The twisted branches of these shore pines are always interesting to me whether upright or in repose.  Under the bark the trunk and branches are twisted.  I had to ask my husband, the biologist, to help me identify this tree.  Then I looked it up and found its wonderful scientific name.  How could I not have something titled Contorta?
