Acrylic on Canvas 30′ x 30″

I had a Costco bag of red bell peppers, had washed them and was getting ready to cut them up.  They were so gorgeous!  I usually don’t paint what is called a “still life” but these shapes and the lights bouncing off of them were a wonderful challenge.  Also I find red quite difficult to paint, you can’t just add white to red, or you get pink, so this was a way to learn to paint darker areas and lighter areas of red.  Those crazy stems were an added bonus.
